In 1971 I was lucky enough to get on the house band at Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco. (A most unusual chuch gig. We had a 10 piece band composed of the best jazz players in the Bay Area and we played just that… Jazz. Every Sunday morning for years.) It was my extreme good fortune to meet Jules on that band and do a bunch of other things with him. New Orleans bred, he's one of the most powerful reed voices I ever had the pleasure of knowing.
