My old Berklee buddy, the fine guitarist & bassist Bob Wirtz, became music director for Trini Lopez in 1972. It wasn't long thereafter that I was out there playing La Bamba. I did it off and on for about three years.
Trini was discovered in an L.A. bar and parlayed into the big time.
We did everything from the Fairmont Hotel to the El Centro County Fair.
A lucrative, if ludicrous, experience.
